Appointments to the Bench

Crockett Chambers is delighted to congratulate two of our members on their recent judicial appointments.

Samantha Seoud has been appointed as a Magistrate, and Anthony Lewis has been appointed as a Judge of the County Court.

These appointments reflect their outstanding skill, integrity, and dedication to the law. We congratulate Samantha and Anthony on this significant achievement and wish them success in their new roles.

Appointment to Senior Counsel

We would like to congratulate Sarah Keating SC on her appointment to Senior Counsel in 2025.

This appointment recognises her profound expertise and exceptional advocacy. Chambers congratulates Sarah on this well-deserved achievement and looks forward to her continued success at the Bar

Crockett Chambers is pleased to introduce our 2025/2026 readers

Janey Nestadt (September 2025)

Janey is reading with Amanda Burnnard and can be engaged through Dever’s List.

Before coming to the Bar, Janey was a solicitor at the Victorian Government Solicitor’s Office where she gained extensive litigation experience in the County Court, Supreme Court and Court of Appeal. Prior to the VGSO, she was an Associate to His Honour Judge McInerney of the County Court and worked in regulatory and product compliance at MECCA Brands. Janey studied at the University of Melbourne and holds a Juris Doctor, as well as a Bachelor of Science (Neuroscience) with first class honours.

Jack Hurley (September 2025)

Jack read with Honour Judge Anthony Lewis and is now reading with David Cronin. He can be engaged through Parnell’s Barristers.

Before coming to the Bar, Jack was employed as a Senior Associate at Stary Norton Halphen. He had carriage of summary and indictable crime matters including those involving allegations of sexual offending, drug trafficking, homicide and white-collar crime. Jack has also worked as a Senior Solicitor at the Office of Public Prosecutions. There, in one of the Trial Divisions, he prosecuted indictable crime matters. Jack was also an Associate to the Honourable Justice McDonald in the Supreme Court of Victoria.

Dr Sitthana Theerathitiwong (March 2026)

Sitthana is reading with Amanda Burnnard. She can be engaged through Svenson Barristers.

Before coming to the Bar, Sitthana served as Principal Legal and Commercial Advisor within the Department of Justice and Community Safety. In this role, she practised in complex commercial matters involving contract negotiation and disputes, as well as public law litigation against the State of Victoria. Sitthana holds a PhD in criminology from the University of Melbourne, in which she specialises in the intersection between cultural and institutional factors influencing women’s experiences with the criminal justice system. Sitthana’s doctoral research was conducted across Melbourne and New York City.

Each of these new barristers bring valuable professional experience to the Bar, and we are delighted to support them as they commence practice. We look forward to their development and contribution to Chambers.
